LOFFCO Early Warning Radar

The radar answers one question every week: which of these names deserves an analyst hour, and which one does not. It is scored to be wrong in the direction of standing down.

The Early Warning Radar is the intellectual property of LOFFCO Risk Management LLC and is licensed to VERITY. Attribution is carried on every signal, cluster, score and brief the platform derives from it.

Scoring

Independence before severity

Four observations that trace to one source are one observation. The radar resolves provenance first, and a cluster that fails independence cannot escalate regardless of how severe it reads.

  1. 01

    Resolve the source

Registrant, host, processor, timing and authorship are resolved across every item in a claim set. Shared infrastructure collapses the set to a single source with a single vote.

  2. 02

    Count independent layers

A cluster carries an independence index from 0 to 1. Escalation requires 0.65 or higher and corroboration from at least two of the four layers.

  3. 03

    Score research attention

The score ranks how much analyst time a name deserves this week. It is not a probability of fraud, a credit opinion or a view on any security.

Open clusters

What the current run is holding

Every cluster carries its layer attribution, its independence index, the narrative and the contrary case that the engine has not been able to rule out.

CWBHCalloway Brands Holdings
Critical

Collateral duplication and cash-control migration

What the cluster says

Five observations across all four layers describe one sequence: collections were rerouted to a sponsor-affiliated servicer, a second security interest was perfected over a pool already pledged, and the auditor then resigned citing unobtainable confirmations. The market repriced the loan before the auditor filing appeared.

What would explain it otherwise

A duplicate UCC-1 filing can reflect a lapsed continuation refiled defensively rather than a second pledge. The servicer change may be a documented cost measure. Neither alternative explains the confirmation failure, and both remain open pending the underlying agreements.

ARDCArbor Ridge Capital Corp
Serious

Mark persistence against liquidity pressure

What the cluster says

A mark held flat for two quarters sits 19 points above the median of two other holders of the same instrument, while the repurchase facility runs at the cap and the proration language moves to a footnote.

What would explain it otherwise

Holders apply different valuation policies and a higher mark is not by itself evidence of error. The comparison holds only where the instrument, seniority and date match, which the engine verifies before clustering.

NLSFNorthlake Specialty Finance
Serious

Two definitions of delinquency in one quarter

What the cluster says

The servicer report and the trust remittance measure the same cohort on different bases. The subordinate tranche repriced 340 basis points wide, and a state examination of the servicing affiliate followed.

What would explain it otherwise

Dual reporting bases are permitted where each is disclosed. The engine holds this at serious rather than critical because the documents may be governed by different agreements.

Watch

Sponsor overlap with an escalated matter

What the cluster says

The reserve account moved to an affiliate of the servicer named in the Calloway matter, and a bank partner terminated its sponsorship agreement through litigation rather than disclosure.

What would explain it otherwise

Shared sponsors share service providers as a matter of course. This cluster inherits no finding from Calloway and is scored on its own observations.

Stood down

independence 21%

Coordinated claim set, stood down

A promoted claim set failed source independence and filing verification on the same day it was ingested. Three accounts, one registrant, no corroboration in any other layer.

A coordinated campaign can still describe a real problem. The engine records the stand-down with its reasoning so the issuer can be re-scored if an independent observation appears.

Sponsor concentration moves from theme to observation

The week resolved a question the radar had held open since July. Two issuers under the same sponsor produced registry observations that name the same servicing affiliate. That moves sponsor concentration from a portfolio theme, which is not actionable, to a counterparty observation, which is. Calloway holds at critical on four-layer corroboration. Stonebridge enters the escalation queue at serious on two layers, scored on its own record rather than on the Calloway finding.

Escalated

  • Calloway Brands: quote dispersion reached 23 points, widest in the cohort
  • Stonebridge Payments: merchant reserve moved to a Calloway-linked servicer
  • Northlake Specialty Finance: state examination opened on the servicing affiliate

Stood down

  • Verdant Agritech held at stand-down. No independent observation appeared in the period.

Coverage gaps

  • Two state UCC registries published on a 72-hour lag this week, against a 24-hour norm
  • Loan-level tapes for two Northlake months remain unobtained

A mark that did not move, and two that did

Arbor Ridge carries a position at 81 while two other holders of the same first-lien instrument carry it at 62 and 71. The engine does not treat a high mark as a finding. It treats a high mark held flat across two quarters, on an instrument two independent holders wrote down, alongside a repurchase facility at 97 percent of cap, as a cluster worth an analyst hour. That is the whole claim this week.

Escalated

  • Arbor Ridge Capital: mark divergence of 19 points against the median holder
  • Helion Freight: receivables aging table removed from the filing

Stood down

  • Coventry Ridge stood down. Option deposit write-offs sit inside the disclosed range.

Coverage gaps

  • No foreign registrant coverage for one Helion subsidiary

The campaign that failed source independence in one day

A promoted claim set against Verdant Agritech arrived across three platforms inside a 40-minute window. Shared registrant, shared host, shared payment processor. The engine checked the central claim, a restatement, against the filing index and found no amended filing, no late notification and no auditor change in the cited window. Stand-down recorded the same day, with the reasoning preserved so the issuer can be re-scored if an independent observation ever appears. A radar that cannot stand down is a radar that can be aimed by anyone.

Escalated

  • Calloway Brands: supplier suit names a payment counterparty outside the disclosed structure

Stood down

  • Verdant Agritech: coordinated claim set, three accounts, one registrant, zero corroboration

Coverage gaps

  • Docket coverage for two state courts ran 48 hours behind

Receivables build against a falling price

Helion Freight grew receivables 31 percent against a 4 percent revenue decline and removed the aging table from the filing. Two layers, no registry or docket corroboration, so the cluster stays at monitoring. The engine will not escalate a two-layer cluster on filing arithmetic alone, and the discipline matters more in the cases where the arithmetic looks damning.

The market repriced before the filing arrived

Calloway term loan composite fell 22.5 points over eleven sessions with dispersion at 23 points across five dealers. The registry observation that explains it was already in the vault from 14 July. The filing that confirms it did not arrive until 15 September. Thirty-nine days of daylight between the second layer and the first.

Escalated

  • Calloway Brands: composite bid 94.0 to 71.5, five-dealer dispersion at 23 points

Stood down

None in this run.

Coverage gaps

  • One dealer withdrew from the composite for three sessions
